personal & professional practice : Studio Brief 3

During photography lectures i've gained knowledge of how to use a camera and because of this it has helped me with a current project which i am using photography for, i've learned how which sense is better to use for landscape and how to focus a camera and I would like to continue to learn more about cameras. Photography has also helped me collaboratively work with my mums friend who has also helped expand my knowledge into photography. In the future i would love to collaboratively work with more people to get better at capturing photos.

I've learnt how the quality of paper is very important when it comes to designers, and how every wait and texture of paper can have meaning depending of what project your set. I've also learnt how it helps make a final look more professional and therefore attracts more of a professional audience.

Sketching has become a very important part of myself as a designer as I find it easier developing ideas on paper than i do on screen, therefor doing this i get the best idea by comparing my sketches .

Critiques have really influenced my work over the past few months as they have expanded my knowledge into what i Should and shouldn't do. Students and lecturers advice have helped either make my work look more to a professional standard, of give it a deeper meaning which there for helps me come out with better outcome overall.

Mockups have made me realise how important it is to show you work and display your work when your work is online or when your work is being viewed by other designers.

I've learnt how to use indesign effectively as i was used to quark express which made things difficult learning this has helped make work easier and let me get work done quicker.

I've learnt the importance of getting my work out there and for this reason created a Instagram and bechance design account to make a name for myself and let designers see my work. The outcome i want for this is to make a name for myself and to collaboratively work with other designers. I also want to make a website by the end of this year to sell products and do work for people and to help get my name out there.

Typography and editorial have always been my main areas of interest, and because of this it has heavily influenced my self branding assignment. I like the freedom of type and the idea of creating of hidden meaning in type rather than flat imagery. I have influences such as Steven Kellers typography sketch book, stefan segmeister , for this reason I love practical type and creating shapes and letter forms with objects or buildings or simply seeing shapes in objects.

I also want to learn motion graphics as it's something i've never learnt and would love to combine type movement and make something eye appealing and interesting.

Something I want to improve on is my time management as I find i always leave things to the last minute therefore don't get things to the best quality and make mistakes that wouldn't of been made if i started in enough time this is something I will work on. I i do this I would then use the time to create more work and visit more studios and exhibitions to give me better knowledge of design and its culture.

I would also like to live abroad and travel to expand my knowledge of design to use in future projects, be going to see archtextual buildings and museums, exhibitions. I would love to live abroad and work with a company in a typographic design placement for experience to enhance my cv.
